Hello farm-ily!
It’s the second week of September and all I can think about is how fast time flies on our farm. I feel like just yesterday we were drooling over our very first fully ripened heirloom tomato and now we are getting ready to pull out tomato plants to make room for more winter veggies. Instead of being sad that some of summer bounties are winding down, I am grateful for all the delicious produce that our soil produced and excited to enjoy what is in season next (spoiler alert- it is butternut squash and broccoli!) Being able evolve with change is a very beautiful thing.
Melon Mania!
We just wrapped up our first big melon haul of the season and boy are they delicious. This year we grew a small French variety called Charentais and we are very happy with the results. The flesh is as smooth as butter and as sweet as honey! We will be stocked up on plenty of melons at tomorrow’s farm stand. :)
All good things must come to an end.
We have decided to wrap up our weekly Wed night farm stand on October 5th. That gives us just four more farm stand days left in our 2016 farm stand season. Fear not, we will always be close by! You can find us and our veggie friends at the year-round Old Town Auburn and Roseville farmers markets.
We hope you all are enjoying this cool weather, we hope to see you around.
With kindest regards,
Michael and Shanon
