Crazy August (week 11)

Hello farm-ily!

Busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy!!! August is here! Our days our filled with endless chores and our bellies are filled with delicious produce. Yes we are tired and yes we are behind, but we are doing it… we are farming two separate farms and providing the community that we love with nutrient dense food. It’s a bit crazy right now, but when I find time to reflect on this season during my morning coffee breaks I can’t help but feel proud of all that we have accomplished thus far.

This quote from one of my favorite farming books is probably the most accurate description of how we feel about our farm right now…

“‎A farm is a manipulative creature. There is no such thing as finished. Work comes in a stream and has no end. There are only the things that must be done now and things that can be done later. The threat the farm has got on you, the one that keeps you running from can until can't, is this: do it now, or some living thing will wilt or suffer or die. Its blackmail, really.”

― Kristin Kimball, The Dirty Life: On Farming, Food, and Love

We love this crazy farming life and we are so grateful to work hard doing something we love. I know I say this pretty much every week, but it becomes truer with time… THANK YOU for all of your support! We are so grateful for a community who truly appreciates the fruits of our labor.

With kindest regards,

Shanon and Michael
